"The clay has a will and an Art of it's own. I work in a collaborative effort WITH the clay to create a piece of sculpture. We are interactive in bringing together the elements of Earth and Light with depictions of Animals and Nature. For me, this is like completing a circle, and I feel a sense of harmony and participation with something far more vast than myself. Sculpting is like a meditation, and many hours can go by without my being aware of anything outside of this process.

I like when a sculpture can SHOW it's process. I want to allow people to experience many of the marks of the sculpting tools, the way the clay pushes and rises, and changes texture depending on it's treatment. These varying textures enhance the play of the light on the artwork. There is an almost musical quality when witnessing the light playing across my animal sculptures. To me, how melodious the music, depends on how well the clay has been allowed to express itself.

A great amount of affection goes into every one of my pieces. It is my hope that people who come to own my art share in this feeling of affection, both for and FROM, every piece.
